Typography

Gellix is Amplitude’s typeface. It’s a geometrical sans-serif font, which features clean, mono-linear strokes and circular forms that join cleanly into vertical stems. This balanced and modern typeface allows us to communicate clearly and captures our brand’s voice through bold, simple glyphs.
Gellix font
We leverage four weights from the Gellix family, in regular and italic states: Regular, Medium, SemiBold, and Bold.

We only reserve Bold for key, succinct display headings. Default to SemiBold for a majority of titles, and leverage Medium and Regular primarily for body copy. A suggested table of type styles and hierarchy can be viewed in the matrix below.

Colorization
Our typography should lead in either black or white, ensuring legibility is prioritized. We use select gray values to assist in type hierarchy, as indicated below. In special instances (ie. CTA’s, links, or eyebrows), our type may be colored in Amplitude Blue. Secondary colors should never be used in typography, unless approved by brand.
Note that due to accessibility standards, branded blue text on black backgrounds should be hexcode #4083FF.

Substitution fonts
In moments when Gellix is not available or usable, we have two substitution fonts that are recommended: Poppins and Helvetica. Poppins should be used for any cloud-based platform that supports Google Fonts, such as Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc). Helvetica should be used as a last resort when options are highly limited (html emails, badge printing presets, etc).

Language support
Gellix supports over 100 languages using scripts from Latin, Cyrillic among others.
